Abdominal Ultrasound

Drink water only, no food for 6 hours prior. We will always try to schedule these studies in the morning so that you can have a late breakfast.

Abdominal examination is to assesses the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, spleen and kidneys. It is often the first examination performed when someone is having abdominal problems.

Pelvic Ultrasound

Pelvic Ultrasound

A full bladder is needed, drink 1 litre of water finished 1 hour prior to your appointment and do not go to the toilet before the scan.

The pelvic ultrasound assesses the uterus, ovaries and kidneys. Unless clinically inappropriate an internal (transvaginal scan) is considered best practice as part of the pelvic assessment.

Renal Ultrasound

Renal Ultrasound

No food for 4 hours prior. A full bladder is needed, drink 1 litre of water finished 1 hour prior to your appointment and do not go to the toilet before the scan.

A renal ultrasound assesses your bladder and kidneys. A full bladder hydrates the kidneys and allows us to see the bladder wall well and how well your bladder empties.
